Separate the stages
Separate site assessment, design, permission procedures, orders and construction. Activities have different dependencies: the structure requires completed drawings and a prepared bearing surface, while some supplies need early selections. The final date must account for these conditions.
Prepare for assembly
Before elements arrive, check foundations, levels, access, lifting and available space. Coordinating openings and service routes avoids unplanned work during assembly. The speed of this stage also depends on preparation completed before materials are delivered.
Complete services and finishes
After the structure come services, linings, screeds, tiles, doors and completion work. Some operations require waiting periods or suitable material conditions. Late selections can affect orders and subsequent work. The programme should also identify decisions required from the client.
Update the programme when work changes
Weather, ground conditions, supplies and changes can affect the sequence. The project contact should assess changes and agree updates. Pools, connections and external works need coordination, particularly where separately phased. Assembly duration alone is not a handover date.
