Two timber villa quotations may cover different work. Check floor area, supplies, exclusions and changes before comparing prices.
A useful comparison table
Use the same rows for each offer: foundations, structure, roof, windows, services, finishes, connections and external work. Mark each as included, excluded or awaiting a price. Compare the floor-area measurement basis too. Totals become meaningful only when their scopes are comparable.
Supplies needing detail
Doors, floors, tiles and sanitaryware need enough detail to identify the selection. Check skirting, accessories, substrate preparation and installation. A directly purchased product may need separate delivery, storage and fitting: assign those tasks before buying.
Agreed price and changes
An agreed amount relates to described work. Ask how unforeseen conditions, alternatives and quantity changes are treated. Assess changes before execution, including programme consequences. Compare offer validity and applicable commercial terms as well.
Updating an old quotation
